Ubisoft has announced a new crossover event in Ghost Recon Breakpoint with Rainbow Six Siege.
Ubisoft posted a tweet from the official Ghost Recon account stating, "It's official and it happens," which saw a response from the official Rainbow Six Siege account simply noting, "Our communications are open."
The publisher also apparently posted a video revealing exactly what crossover is on Youtube, giving the surprise. Youtube users who subscribe to the Ubisoft channel recorded a notification yesterday for a new video confirming a cross between Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six Siege.
The video, which apparently was posted earlier than expected, was quickly made private - but not before we were able to see what was in it. It showed some kind of gas invading the island. While it offered little in the way of configuration, it did confirm that Siege Operators Ash, Finka, and Smoke or Thatcher would join the Ghosts. The video also revealed that January 21 was the start date for the event.
This will be the second time that Siege crosses paths with other projects in the modern Tom Clancy-verse; in 2018 we saw Siege and Wildlands participate in a similar crossover event.
Ubisoft referenced an upcoming “exciting crossover event” in an update in October 2020, and it looks like we're just about to get more information on exactly what this is very soon.
It's unclear if Siege will also see new content as part of the crossover, but more information is expected to be released later today.
