The upcoming Tomb Raider game will unify the timelines, according to Crystal Dynamics.
According to game director Will Kerslake, the team envisions a future for the Tomb Raider games that will take place after the “set adventures” - from Core Design's first game to the last one released by Crystal Dynamics.
“Our original trilogy told the story of Lara's early days, where she was transformed into a survivor, a hero, and ultimately a tomb raider - while the classic games featured a seasoned and skilled adventurer. We envision a future of Tomb Raider unfolding after these set adventures, telling stories that draw on both Core Design games and Crystal Dynamics, working to unify those timelines, ”Kerslake said.
“Given Tomb Raider's long history, this is no easy task, and we ask you to be patient during the development process. We don't plan to announce a major game in the near future. "
Until then, we have the Legendary animated series coming to Netflix. It follows the Tomb Raider trilogy, which means it takes place after the events of Crystal Dynamics' Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
