British retailer Argos is the latest victim of the scalping groups.
Argos, one of the UK's largest retailers, yesterday introduced new PS5 stock for a big drop. The available stock ran out shortly after it was put into service, but not for the usual reasons.

The main problem, according to IGN, was that the scalpers managed to get into Argos systems and snag a bunch of units before the lot even went on sale.
Sources told the site that the scalpers managed to get theirs a day before the gout was supposed to go live. A group, which has gloated in the past for stealing multiple PS5s, identified a flaw in Argos's systems, which essentially allowed its members to buy the console legitimately before the links were live on the website .
Some have even reportedly received their consoles through the store's payment and collection service. Although Argos said he closed the loophole, he did not say how many of them were sold through these links before the shares were put up for sale.
Outside of the scalpers, Argos systems didn't seem to hold up well in the face of increased demand from people trying to buy a PS5 once the stock went live. The Argos app reportedly showed the PS5 in stock, but it apparently came across randomly in different parts of the UK.
UK retailer GAME ran into a similar issue with PS5 scalpers last week, after a certain group of scalpers claimed to have recovered 2,000 units in one day, to which GAME then responded by saying their orders would not be. not verified.
